My thesis work at the MIT Media Lab. Share was an experimental tool for communities of programmers. It was an IDE that automatically shared all code written in it and provided for very fine grained (character level) tracking of how that code was reused by others in the community. Our goal was to explore design solutions to support loosely bound collaboration in communities of practice.
